14-year-old Vinisha Umashankar won the Children’s Climate Prize in 2020 and was a finalist in the Clean Our Air category at the 2021 Earthshot Prize Awards. Her solar-powered ironing cart is an alternative to charcoal powered street irons used in India to press clothes. The innovation displayed by Vinisha is inspirational to young women across the world and the broadcasting of her ingenious idea on the BBCs Earthshot Prize awards has allowed the world to see what fantastic things India’s younger generations have to offer.
